Leicester City vs Aston Villa Matchday Stats Preview

Leicester have lost just seven of their 28 Premier League meetings with Aston Villa (W11 D10), their lowest loss rate against any side they’ve faced 20+ times in the competition (25%).

Aston Villa have won two of their last three Premier League away games against Leicester (D1), more than they had in their first 11 such visits beforehand (W1 D4 L6).

Since a run of five clean sheets in six Premier League games across October and November 2022 prior to that year’s FIFA World Cup, Leicester City have kept just one clean sheet in their last 25 matches in the top-flight, a goalless draw with Newcastle in May 2023.

Aston Villa have gone seven consecutive Premier League matches without a clean sheet, shipping 15 goals. They last went on a longer run without a shoutout between September and December 2023 (eight games).

Steve Cooper has failed to win either of his first two league games in charge of Leicester (D1 L1); the last Foxes manager to win none of his opening three was Paulo Sousa in August 2010.

Since Unai Emery’s first away Premier League match in charge of Aston Villa in November 2022, only Man City (23) and Arsenal (20) have won more away games than Villa (15). They are looking to win their opening two away matches in a Premier League season for a fourth time, previously doing so in 2009-10, 2014-15 and 2020-21.

Only Ipswich Town (219) have played fewer passes in the opposition half in the Premier League this season than Leicester City (238), with just 33% of the Foxes’ passes coming in the opposition’s half, the lowest percentage.

Jamie Vardy has been involved in 98 Premier League goals at the King Power Stadium (71 goals, 27 assists), scoring their equaliser on MD1 against Spurs. Vardy is looking to become the 14th player to have 100+ goal involvements at a single venue, while since 2014-15 only Mo Salah at Anfield (128) and Kevin De Bruyne at the Etihad (111) have more goals and assists at a venue than Vardy at the King Power.

19-year-old Facundo Buonanotte assisted his first Premier League goal for Leicester on MD2 against Fulham, his third Premier League assist overall, with all coming in a different season (2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25). He is one of only 10 teenagers to have assisted a goal in three seasons and the first since Marcus Rashford (2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18).

Ollie Watkins has gone seven Premier League appearances without a goal for Aston Villa, his longest barren run since an eight-game run between August and October 2022 just prior to Unai Emery’s arrival. He’s had 14 attempts without success in this current run, scoring six times from 19 shots in his previous seven games (32% conversion rate).
